Understanding Your Cloud Options

Cloud computing has revolutionized how businesses manage data, run applications, and scale operations. However, choosing the right deployment model remains a critical decision for IT leaders. The choice between Public and Private Cloud infrastructure depends heavily on your organization’s specific needs regarding security, scalability, cost, and control.

What is Public Cloud?

The public cloud is a computing model where a third-party provider makes computing resources—such as servers, storage, and applications—available to the general public over the internet. In this multi-tenant environment, you share hardware, storage, and network devices with other organizations or “cloud tenants.”

Leading examples include Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The service provider owns, manages, and maintains all the hardware and supporting infrastructure, allowing you to access services via a web browser

What is Private Cloud?

A private cloud refers to cloud computing resources used exclusively by a single business or organization. The private cloud can be physically located at your company’s on-site datacenter, or it can be hosted by a third-party service provider.

In a private cloud, the services and infrastructure are maintained on a private network. This single-tenant environment offers the same efficiency and agility as the public cloud but provides greater control, privacy, and security, as resources are not shared with others.
